The suite offers views of our organic garden and features a queen-size bed. The room is provided with plenty of natural light, a pleasant relaxation area and a desk.

The legend goes that at the beginning of the world, Mary Magdalene taught women how to weave brocaded textiles. The (traditional outfit known as the) huipil used to adorn the saints, are visionary works, inspired by dreams and other spiritual revelations, to quote Walter F. Morris Jr.’s Guia Textil de los Altos de Chiapas (A Textile Guide to the Highlands of Chiapas).

In a number of communities like Aldama, Chiapas, the creation of textiles is a way of life for a large portion of the female population. Here, one eats, breathes and lives among the looms, and the Vaichil Suite is a tribute to this quotidian life.

The motifs adorning this warm room are inspired by the day-to-day attire of Aldama’s weavers, women who guarantee with their hands the future of their families.
